Problem Statement & Introduction
Climbers often struggle to improve their technique, manage fear of falling, and track their progress in a meaningful way. These challenges hold them back from attempting harder routes, limit their motivation, and leave them unsure of how to grow as climbers.
This concept investigates how personalized learning systems could transform climbing skill development and training progression. The objective is to deliver adaptive guidance through performance tracking and user-driven content personalization, addressing both technical proficiency and psychological barriers that limit climber advancement.
Explored as a part of Master's capstone project.

Process
Research with climbers uncovered a critical gap: existing apps focus on route logging while climbers' real barriers are fear management and technique development - not just tracking what they've climbed.

Onboarding Strategy
Onboarding introduces core features upfront to showcase value before account creation. Users can personalize their experience through optional profile setup, with clear benefits highlighted to encourage completion while maintaining flexibility to skip.
Personalized Experience
Climbing log and user preferences power intelligent content curation. From homepage recommendations to tailored training exercises and targeted improvement areas.

Community-driven Training Resources
Community-shared training methods with social proof mechanisms build credible, peer-validated resource library.

Gamified Learning
XP system unlocks technique, psychology, and safety modules based on climbing activity - incentivizing both practice and education.

Data-driven Insights
Performance analytics identify strengths and gaps, generating personalized recommendations across climbs, training, and education.
